Collection: The Best Socks
Which socks should you buy?
- What materials are used? I work exclusively with merino wool, of course mulesing-free. No other material is both so wonderfully soft and simultaneously warm on your feet.
- How do the socks stay nice after washing? Only wash the socks when it’s really necessary. Woolen socks can be worn for multiple days in a row. To extend the life of your socks, wash them on a wool cycle, or by hand. Alternatively, hang them in the bathroom while you take a hot shower; the steam will freshen them up. A nourishing wool detergent is also recommended because it conditions the fibers.
- Are the socks produced sustainably? Absolutely! That said, there are of course some steps in the production process that are not so sustainable, such as transporting the raw materials and the energy required to run the machines (despite the solar panels on the factory roof). But my suppliers and I do our very best. Firstly, we only use mulesing-free merino wool, so the animals are not mistreated. Secondly, we only work with European partners who must meet strict standards. Thirdly, wool is a natural product that does not require a chemical process to be processed.
- What makes these socks comfortable? These socks have seamless toes, which eliminates irritation in that area. Thanks to the high percentage (85%!) of merino wool, they also feel wonderfully soft on your feet. You won’t develop sweaty feet because merino wool is antibacterial, and no other material can match merino in terms of moisture regulation! From the start, we chose a true ribbed structure and no “tight band” at the top of the sock, so they don’t pinch your legs anywhere. We place a lot of importance on wearing comfort.
- Which colors and patterns are available? We’ve carefully selected a palette of nine colors for the entire collection. New socks are introduced with a few colors from this palette. Sometimes we only combine dark colors, sometimes only light ones. You can accentuate your own style with bold, eye-catching socks, or opt for a quieter tone-on-tone effect.
- Which sizes are available? Each sock is offered in at least the three most common sizes: 35–38, 39–42, and 43–46. Some combinations are also available in size 47–49 or 31–34. And we already have a nice collection for the little ones as well. Each new size is a big investment, and these special sizes don’t sell as frequently. That’s why it’s not always feasible (yet) for us to produce socks for every single foot size. Sorry about that!
- How is the fit? Do they stretch out? Because our woolen socks are knitted with a genuine ribbed structure, they are naturally elastic. However, that doesn’t mean you can wear socks that are too small. If you’re in doubt, we recommend choosing a slightly larger size. Wool socks are more likely to shrink than stretch out. If you wash them carefully, following the wool care instructions, your socks will last longer and keep their shape beautifully.
- Why are these socks worth the higher price? Because at Zokk’n we make real wool socks with 85% merino wool! Because we have them knitted in Portugal by one of the most respected sock manufacturers in the world – a family business proud of their craftsmanship and their reputation. It’s a company where every employee is known by name and receives a fair wage. We also developed a really fun concept focusing on high-quality details: every sock has a little organic cotton label at the back with our logo embroidered on the outside and the sock name on the inside. Each size also has a unique toe color, so you can quickly find your own socks. Lastly, we sell our socks individually so you can immediately mix and match, or replace just the single sock you’re missing.

That extra mile
- Working with European suppliers is a conscious choice, even if it increases our costs. We strive to keep prices as low as possible for our customers.
